Use this material to examine your own work. Confirm current requirements, forms and dates with ICE before applying.
Plan learning around technical work and record what you understand and apply.
Make learning visible
A useful CPD record explains the question you needed to resolve, what you learned and how it affected work. Reading, supervised new tasks and error discussions can support learning. Familiar routine repetition does not automatically add effective learning.
After qualification
ICE requires professionally qualified members to keep written records and provide them on request. The current framework requires learning in at least one mandatory theme each year, covering all three over a rolling three-year period. Open the framework to check the themes and instructions. The Technician application document is not the complete policy for later membership.
Engineering example
Illustrative setting: learning after a revision error
Drawing-control seminar, two hours.
I needed to understand why superseded revisions remained visible. I reviewed the procedure with the coordinator and practised checking published status. I now confirm the authorised revision before preparing a site response. Next I will examine the controls for external information.
Record effective learning honestly; this is not a prescribed allocation of credit.
