Reconstructing earlier work
Final report forms may concern work from five years ago. Allow time to review drawings, calculations and correspondence so you can explain the options, checks and lessons accurately.
Without regular feedback such as "your commercial evidence is weak", you need to identify gaps yourself. Use the gap analysis and review each Core Objective against your experience.
Asking a Chartered Member for feedback
The guidance allows a Chartered Member to assist without signing the forms. Ask them to read your drafts and identify objectives where your evidence needs more explanation or development.
Organising the record
List your significant projects in order. Record your responsibilities and decisions for each, then map the evidence to the ten objectives. This helps keep the account grounded in work you did.

Reconstruct the record while you still can
Go back through drawings, calculations and correspondence for your significant projects. Check what you are still permitted to access, and what needs employer or client clearance before it can leave.

List the decisions, project by project
One line each. This is your evidence base, and it is far easier to see gaps here than in a draft form.

Map onto the ten objectives
Now, not before. A good piece of evidence usually supports three or four objectives at once.

Find the thin objectives and be honest about them
Commercial and legal, sustainability and management are the usual gaps for engineers who have been heads-down on design. If the experience is not there, that is a development plan, not a writing problem.

Get an experienced reader
A Chartered Member who will tell you the truth about where a reviewer will push. They need not sign anything.

Then write the final report forms
Ten of them, in the language of the standard each objective is set at.
