ICE / Application

Check your documents against each other

Check that your report, CV and appendices give a consistent account of the same work.

LEARNING GUIDE

Use this material to examine your own work. Confirm current requirements, forms and dates with ICE before applying.

Describing yourself as leading in one document and supporting in another can raise questions about your role. Reviewers can spot these wording inconsistencies without specialist engineering knowledge.

People write their CV in a hurry, use "led" loosely, and date a two-year job by the year it finished. None of that is dishonest. All of it is visible when two documents are read side by side, which is how they are read.

This compares yours. It looks at how your role is described, whether dates line up, and whether a project that carries evidence in one place is missing from the others.
